Rainy Day Activities

Lately, here in Florida, we have had our summer rains most every day. It’s known to be quite intense at times, with alternating downpours and drizzles. The thunder claps are loud, the lightning so bright at times, one can see it with closed eyes!

How do you spend your indoor time?

Besides the obvious cleaning projects or organizing cupboards and closets, here are some alternate option ideas:

~ Fill the “over the miles” gap with friends and relatives. Correspond with them. Write a letter, note or send a card.
~ Bake. Make a cake, cookies, bread or that recipe you’ve been meaning to try for awhile.
~ Catch up on reading. Have a book you’ve tried to start but just never have? Break it open.
~ Scrapbooking. This is a time consuming activity great for hours of staying at home time!
~ Crafts. Always great for stress release and fulfilling!
~ Puzzles. Put some music on, set the ambiance of serenity.
~ Movies. Set your sights on some movies to pass the time.
~ Board Games. What a great way to gather the family together!
~ Nap! Wow, imagining the wonder of a daytime nap? If it’s something you don’t usually do, it’s a real treat!
~ Clip magazine articles. Have a stack of magazines you are saving because of interesting articles? Clip them and put them into a notebook, then recycle the magazines.
~ Cook. Comfort foods feel SO good on a rainy day. Mac and cheese, cinnamon buns, mashed potatoes and gravy; you know what you like!
~ Sew. Create a new fashion for your home or yourself.
~ Fill photo albums. This is yet another time consuming activity. It’s always one that brings a wonderful feeling of accomplishment!
~ Play music. Are you a budding or accomplished musician? Fill your home with merry melodies!
~ Groom your pet.  Bathe, comb, pamper your beloved companion.
~ Teach your pet new tricks.  Nothing says "I love you" more than spending time with this delightful part of your family.
~ Take pictures.  Capture the ambiance of the storms.  The gentle rains or lightning when it strikes!

Of course, there is always shopping for those who brave the weather. Or go for a walk in the gentle rain!
