Decorating Ideas to Spruce Up Your Home

Tired of your decor? Ready to make some changes? Are you at a loss for ideas?

Let us start at the very beginning!  The options are endless!

~ Select a room where you spend most of your time; living room or den, perhaps. A few new accents may be all it needs, while removing some clutter and uninspiring items.

~ Try rearranging your furniture. If this is something you do not often do, you may see how refreshing and satisfying it really can be! It can give the room a whole new look, without costing money!

~ Change picture frames with frames or picture mats that blend in the colors on the coffee table.

~ Think outside the box- perhaps use a trunk as a coffee table in the middle of a nice conversational area. Place a floral arrangement in a colorful vase, photo album or candles on it to bring warmth and interest to the area.

~ Use throw pillows in these colors for the sofa or chairs.

~ If you have a favorite upholstered item that is looking its age, try recovering it, or laying a throw blanket on it, in a bold color to offset the rest of the furniture.

~ If you are feeling the pangs of crafting or even a bigger task, do some stenciling or put a wooden molding around a window to frame it, and change drapes to blinds.

~ Find a focal point.  Add a throw carpet (even over your wall to wall carpet) under the coffee table - or add an interesting wall arrangement.

One doesn't have to spend much on these changes - just look in thrift stores or consignment shops for good prices. Others who are doing just what you are doing may have donated their 'tired of ' items - just in time for your turn with them!!

Helpful Hint: Plants to decorate with that are hard to kill!
1. The Bamboo Plant! You place the bamboo stalks in a container, add rocks around them to immobilize them and keep the rocks covered with water. Buying the stalks and the containers to put them in is very inexpensive.
2. Air Fern! They don't even need water - just AIR! Put an air fern in a container, add moss around it and it will grow! No soil necessary, either!!

A Bit of Humor:

• The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
• Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
• When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth, think of Algebra.
