Check List for Leaving your Florida Winter Home

Winterset RV Resort, in Palmetto, offers this check list for those who are preparing to return to their Summer homes:

1.  Close all windows
2.  Place timers on indoor lamps
3.  Forward mail
4.  Place phone and cable "on vacation"
5.  Return all books, puzzles and DVD's from where you borrowed them
6.  Set A/C on 80 degrees (on "cool" and "auto")
7.  Turn off water
8.  Clean or replace your A/C filter
9.  Put plastic wrap over toilet to prevent water from evaporating
10. Turn refrigerator and freezer off and prop doors open
11. Make sure all smoke alarms are working and have fresh batteries
12. Put all awnings down
13. Discard all perishable items
14. Unplug all electrical items and computers
15. Ask a friend/neighbor to check on your property every week or two
16. Make sure office has your correct northern phone number, address and email address

For your travel, here's a great snack for the road!  It stores well in plastic containers or zippered plastic bags.

Chex Party Mix is an all time favorite!  It's easy to make and a great snack while traveling by any mode of transportation!  Here's the recipe! 
Prep Time: 15 minutes. 
Ingredients:
•1/2 cup butter
•2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
•1 tsp. seasoned salt
•1 tsp. garlic salt
•1/2 tsp. onion powder
•3 cups corn Chex cereal
•2 cups wheat Chex cereal
•1-1/2 cups mixed nuts
•1 cup small pretzels
•1 cup garlic flavored bagel chips
•1 cup pretzel rods

Preparation:
Oven Method:  Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven (5 minutes). Stir in seasonings. Add remaining ingredients and mix until coated. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, and store in airtight container.

Microwave Method: Melt butter in large microwave-safe bowl on HIGH. Stir in seasonings, then remaining ingredients until coated. Microwave, uncovered, on HIGH 5-6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, and store in airtight container.
